YEREVAN, May 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s ministry of transport, communications and information technology will demand that all taxis obtain licenses, including on-line taxi companies, minister Vahan Martirosyan told journalists on Friday.

According to him, the ministry has tightened control over the activities of taxi drivers, despite the latter’s anger.

“We all understand, among other things, that the level of taxi services does not satisfy our needs both in terms of  quality of cars and the professionalism of the drivers, but we will continue to ensure equal conditions for all taxi drivers,” Martirosyan said.

“This means that we differentiate the concepts ” electronic services “and” transportation “, and in this case the cars that are directly engaged in passenger transportation will have to be licensed, as well as ordinary taxi drivers,” Martirosyan said.

He noted that the accrued debts of taxi drivers for licenses will not be forgiven, since this is a violation of the law that  provides for appropriate liability. -0–
